Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a club member. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the dish is a bit vague, focusing more on the concept of 'comfort' rather than specific ingredients or preparation methods. To improve, ensure that your explanation of why the dish should be included is more clearly linked to the event's purpose of celebrating global food, rather than focusing solely on fundraising or personal nostalgia.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Secondly' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. For example, the sentence 'Ancient people is always preferred this dish' lacks a clear connection to the previous point about customization. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'their nostalgic food is biriyani', which makes the sentence structure awkward. Improving the flow between sentences would help achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but the word choice is often imprecise. Phrases like 'authentic feel and taste' and 'provide very comfort' are slightly unnatural. There are also some errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'customize the preferences' and 'increase our fund'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic descriptors limit the score. Using more specific culinary or descriptive adjectives would enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Ancient people is', 'it will also helps'), incorrect verb tenses, and preposition errors ('add to to our event', 'look forward hearing'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that verb forms are consistent, especially when using modal verbs or future tenses.
