You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

  • describe what this dish is
  • explain why it should be included in the event

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Luis,

Student answer (Band 8.0)

Dear Luis,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to offer a food contribution to our upcoming event, as I would love to represent my home state of Punjab by bringing a popular traditional dish.

Specifically, I would like to prepare stuffed parathas, which are traditional flatbreads filled with a spiced potato mixture. They are shallow-fried on a griddle until golden and crispy on the outside. To ensure everyone can enjoy them, I will keep the spice level mild and adjustable. I also plan to serve them alongside fresh yogurt to complement the flavors.

I believe this would be a fantastic addition to the event for two main reasons. Firstly, as a cultural gathering, it offers a wonderful opportunity to share authentic dishes from our backgrounds. Secondly, it adds a unique, vegetarian option to our overall menu.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Gurkirat Kaur
