IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

• offer to make a popular dish from your country
• describe what this dish is
• explain why it should be included in the event

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Luis,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear sir,

I am writing this letter about making a dish at the event which is going to held by our club for celebrating the famous dish from all over the world.

Our club is inviting people from different countries to show what their best dish tastes like. I think i should represent my country in the event. I would like to make "butter chicken" which is an Indian dish.

Butter chicken is basically the chicken pieces dipped in a spicy gravy. The gravy plays vital role in the dish which is made from onion, tomato, green pepper , ginger, garlic, and Indian spices. Then at the end it is garnished by butter on top which gives it a creamy texture.

It is included in the top ten dishes in all over the world. It was the most ordered item from the Uber eats in 2025. Everyone will love it if we include it in the list.
