Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points: offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining why it should be included. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited, and the response fails to meet the 150-word minimum requirement, which significantly impacts the overall task completion. The description of the dish is somewhat vague, and the explanation for its inclusion lacks depth. To improve, you should expand on the cultural significance of the dish and provide more descriptive details about its preparation or flavor profile to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter follows a basic structure, but the flow between ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, relying on simple connectors like 'so' and 'but'. Paragraphing is present but not effectively used to separate the different requirements of the task. The transition between the offer to cook and the description of the dish is abrupt. To improve, you should use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') to create a smoother progression of ideas and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey ideas with precision. Phrases like 'a lot of famous' and 'everybody like this food' are simplistic. There are also spelling errors such as 'seperatly' and 'gurantee'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. You should aim to incorporate more descriptive adjectives and topic-specific vocabulary related to food and events to enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('everybody like'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and there is a lack of complex structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and incorrect capitalization of the pronoun 'i'. These errors occasionally impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, and practicing the use of complex sentences with appropriate subordinating conjunctions.
