Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why the dish should be included relies on generalisations about the audience ('majority of the guest will be the indians' and 'white people will love this'), which could be more professionally articulated. To reach a higher band, ensure your reasons are more focused on the cultural value or the popularity of the dish itself rather than demographic assumptions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organised into paragraphs, each serving a clear purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Although', 'firstly', and 'Also', to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by mechanical errors in punctuation and sentence structure, such as the fragmented sentence 'Which is Hyderabadi Biryani.' Additionally, the transition between the description of the dish and the justification for its inclusion could be smoother. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that sentences are complete will help the text read more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'marinated', 'curd', and 'spices'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'varieties food' instead of 'a variety of foods' and 'white people', which is not the most appropriate term in a professional context. You also rely on informal descriptors like 'yummy'. To improve, try to use more precise adjectives and ensure that your collocations are accurate. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated descriptors for food and cultural events would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally hinder the reader. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('the famous food of india'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence fragments. For instance, 'first;y' is incorrectly punctuated, and 'Than this will cook' should be 'Then this will be cooked'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small grammatical slips will significantly improve your score.
