IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

• offer to make a popular dish from your country
• describe what this dish is
• explain why it should be included in the event

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Luis,

I am writing this letter for giving an idea of introducing a very popular dish from my country in our event.

Do you have organized everything? I've come up with an idea of making a very famous dish Biryani for our event. Many students wanting to try this dish so far. So why not we should give it a try.

Surprisingly this dish, Biryani does not need much time and energy. It is basically made of rice and chicken and interestingly, we can make it of vegetables if there is anyone vegetarian. It contains spices and curd which is rich in probiotics and some of our love. It is a fun process of making it.

As a number of students asked me about my country and the type of food we eat, I wanted this dish to be represented as my country and surely, everyone would definitely love it.
