IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

• offer to make a popular dish from your country
• describe what this dish is
• explain why it should be included in the event

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Luis,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mr. Luis

I am writing to suggest you to include a very famous dish from my home country in an event which I believe that customers would definitely love.

I would really appreciate if you can add a famous dish from my country.

As there are some of my colleugues who are from same country from where I am, they can also participate in this event to cook our national food.

One of the renowned food from India is none other than samosa. Samosas are scrumptious to eat. It is made from a dough sheet which is filled with sauted potatoes with spices and then it goes for deep frying in oil. It is served with mint chutney and tamarind sauce which are also homemade.

I think this snacks should be added in this event due to the fact that samosas are so delicious. When someone feel it's aroma then they can start starving. Moreover, this is not much harmful to health because we will bake it instead of deep frying.
