Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the three bullet points required in the prompt. You successfully offer to make a dish ('I want to make a popular dish from my country'), identify the dish as a samosa, and briefly explain why it should be included ('this dish very famous in india... because it is very tasty'). However, the task is only partially addressed in terms of development and length. The response falls short of the 150-word minimum, containing only 136 words. Because the length requirement was not met, the overall development of ideas is limited, and some points, such as the description of the dish, remain under-developed. To achieve a higher band score, ensure you write at least 150 words and expand further on your reasons with supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter exhibits a basic level of organisation, utilising standard opening and closing conventions ('Dear Luis,' and 'I look forward to hearing from you soon'). Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Also', and 'Furthermore' are used to structure the text, though they are sometimes applied mechanically or awkwardly, as seen in phrases like 'if we take into account the likelihood of samosa'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs are very short and choppy, which disrupts the natural flow and logical progression of ideas. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'this food is a the best example of event'. For a higher score, the text needs a smoother transition of ideas and more natural paragraph development.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like 'food', 'popular', and 'famous'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'pary' instead of party, 'likelihood of samosa', and 'almost every nation people are liked it'. You attempt some less common vocabulary, but these attempts often lead to word-choice inaccuracies. Spelling and word-formation errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the range to a minimally adequate level. To improve, focus on expanding your range of vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms and collocations in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. While there are a few simple sentences that are clear, attempts at more complex or longer structures frequently result in grammatical errors, such as 'discuss I am a member', 'club is organised an event' (passive voice error), and 'everyone enjoy to eat it'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and article usage, such as 'is a the best example'. These errors can cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning usually remains understandable. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate greater control over complex sentence patterns and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical mistakes.
