Ukwa is a very popular dish in the eastern part of my country. As big as it might sound , it does not take time to cook. Ukwa is gotten from ukwa trees, the fruit from thr trees are allowed to decay then wash and extract the seeds . This seeds are then cooked for about 45minutes to soften then add seasonings and ukwa is ready.

It is prepared mostly prepared in special occasions and served to special guests in a event. Very easy to make but considered a sacred food and I believe adding to the eve nt menu will help other studends gain understanding about my cultural food.

Yours Faithful,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You begin the letter by offering to make a popular dish from your country, specifically naming 'ukwa'. You then describe what this dish is, detailing its source from ukwa trees, the preparation process involving boiling for 45 minutes, and adding seasonings. Finally, you explain why it should be included in the event, noting that it is served on special occasions as a sacred food and that it will help other students gain an understanding of your cultural food. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly for a letter to a club organiser named Luis. All parts of the task are adequately addressed, earning a solid band score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter is organised into clear paragraphs that separate the introduction, the description of the dish, its purpose in the event, and the closing sign-off. Ideas are logically sequenced, moving from the initial offer to the description and finally to the justification. However, there are some minor cohesive issues and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces and punctuation around 'thr to the' in the opening sentence, and a missing conjunction before 'wash and extract'. Referencing is generally clear, but paragraphing could be smoother with more varied cohesive devices to link the sentences together seamlessly.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'sacred food', 'seasonings', and 'cultural food'. There are, however, some word choice and phrasing errors that detract from precision, such as 'is gotten from' instead of 'comes from' or 'is harvested from', and 'in a event' instead of 'at an event'. Spelling is mostly accurate, though there are typographical errors like 'thr' instead of 'the' and 'studends' instead of 'students'. The vocabulary used is sufficient to communicate your message clearly, but precision and collocation need refinement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'As big as it might sound , it does not take time to cook.' There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, including 'How are you doing.' which should end with a question mark, 'Club , I want' with an unnecessary space before the comma, and 'This seeds' where the plural demonstrative does not match the singular noun 'seed'. Additionally, fragment sentences like 'then wash and extract the seeds' lack a clear subject. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the grammar score from reaching a higher band.
