Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Luis,

I would like to inform you about a popular dish, which you could add in an international food celebration event.

There are plenty of famous food dishes in my country, but from all of those, i would like to refer you to make a very famous sweet, that is "Mohanthar", which is not only liked by our country but also other country like Canada, Russia would like to make that.

Mohanthar is made with different ingreadiants. Moreover, It has different source of protiens, a variety of fatty lipids, and carbohydrates, which are required for your fitness and health. If i describe how it looks, it is a little cubes, which garnish with wip crem.

I would like to recomend you to display that in event. there are several reasons. Firstly, it is sweet in teste, so everyone would love it. Secondly, it has plenty of good amount of protiens, so it will help people, who will eat .

It would be a great if you add all those in event.

Your faithful,

Raj

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You have addressed all parts of the task, meeting the core requirements by offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining why it should be included in the international food event. For example, you open by stating your purpose to inform Luis about a popular dish, name 'Mohanthar', and give reasons such as its sweet taste and nutritional value. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the description and the reasons for inclusion are mentioned, they remain rather limited and lack extension. Your explanation that it has 'plenty of good amount of protiens' is quite basic and under-developed. To move to a higher level, you need to expand your ideas more fully, providing richer details about the preparation, taste, and cultural significance of the dish without relying on repetitive reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your letter shows a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose established right from the opening greeting 'Dear Luis,' to the sign-off 'Your faithful, Raj'. You use paragraphing to separate different points, such as introducing the dish, describing it, and giving reasons for its selection. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. You rely on basic connectors like 'Moreover', 'Firstly', and 'Secondly', which can feel formulaic. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the concluding sentence where you write 'add all those in event', where 'those' lacks a precise antecedent since you only discussed a single dish. To achieve a higher band, you should integrate cohesive devices more naturally and ensure referencing links are smooth and precise throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You display an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using functional terms like 'celebration', 'international', and 'nutritional' concepts, alongside naming the specific dish 'Mohanthar'. Nevertheless, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, you misspell 'ingredients' as 'ingreadiants', 'whipped cream' as 'wip crem', and 'taste' as 'teste'. Additionally, phrasing such as 'refer you to make a very famous sweet' and 'fatty lipids' lacks natural collocation. To improve your lexical score, you need to focus on correct spelling, widen your selection of descriptive adjectives, and use less common lexical items with greater precision and stylistic awareness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing demonstrates a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, such as the relative clause in 'which are required for your fitness and health'. You show some control over basic structures and punctuation, and your errors rarely impede overall communication. However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies, particularly with articles, plurals, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns. For example, you write 'add in an international food celebration event' instead of 'to an event', drop plural markers in 'other country like Canada', and construct awkward phrasing like 'it is a little cubes, which garnish with wip crem' where passive voice and plural agreement are incorrect. To reach a higher standard, you must produce error-free complex sentences and ensure accurate grammatical control over verb forms and plurals.
