Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main parts of the task by offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining why it should be included, but the ideas are limited and under-developed. For example, the student attempts to explain the reason for inclusion by mentioning that 'students coming from different part of the world to introduce their famous food speciality', but the explanation quickly becomes confused with details about winning awards and franchise opportunities, which detracts from the purpose of the letter. Furthermore, the tone and perspective are inconsistent, as the opening states 'I am a member of an international student's club and we are organising event to celebrate popular food from your own country', yet it is addressed to Luis who is supposed to be the organiser. This lack of a clear, consistent role and partial development of ideas keeps the task achievement at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation with paragraph breaks and standard letter conventions, but overall there is no clear progression of ideas. The transition between sentences and paragraphs is often abrupt and confusing, such as jumping from describing the dish to talking about 'awards and 3 years of franchise of famous chief shaheed kapoor'. Cohesive devices are generally inadequate or inaccurate, resulting in a disjointed structure. For instance, 'Well it should be included in this event' relies on conversational filler rather than proper cohesive links. Referencing is also unclear at times, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended logic of the letter.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text, such as 'memeber', 'inform', 'cookign', 'chief', and 'specality'. While the student attempts less common vocabulary phrases like 'franchise of famous chief', these attempts contain significant lexical inaccuracies that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The range of vocabulary restricts the response, as basic terms are repeated and collocations are frequently unnatural, preventing the achievement of a higher lexical band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. There are frequent issues with verb forms, tense consistency, and basic sentence construction, as seen in 'I hope you doing well. I would to like to informed you' and 'As I know you looking for the opportunity.' Articles and plurals are also mishandled in phrases like 'organising event' and 'different part of the world'. These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control over sentence patterns.
