Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses all parts of the task minimally, but ideas remain under-developed and limited. You offer to make a Gujarati dish, describe it briefly by listing items like rice and dal, and explain its inclusion because many club members are Indian and prefer vegetarian food. However, the explanation lacks depth and extension, and the overall content is restricted. Furthermore, please note that the response is below the required minimum length of 150 words, containing only 118 words, which impacts the overall completeness of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation with paragraph breaks, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are minimal, inadequate, and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent restarting of sentences with 'and' or 'because' without proper linking. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making the flow somewhat disjointed and mechanical. Paragraphing is attempted, but ideas within the paragraphs are not smoothly connected to guide the reader logically through the letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'writting', 'celebrate popular food in club organising', and 'sweet vedmi'. These lexical limitations and errors require the reader to occasionally exert effort to understand the intended meaning, and the use of less common vocabulary is largely unsuccessful.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences. Attempts at more complex structures or compound clauses are frequently faulty, seen in phrases like 'I hope you doing well' and 'many club member belong to gujarati dish'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, pluralisation, and punctuation that cause difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication.
