Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Luis,
I am Ritika Sajedah. I am a member of an international student's club. The letter has been written to you about suggestion signature dish of my countrey that our club can include in upcoming event which is going to celebrate well-known food from across the world.
I would like to advice you to include the signature cusin of my countrey which is called "pani puri". This dish is widey prefered by individuals due to the test that it provide such as it well balnced flavour of Indian spiceies with little sweet water mixer. I am sure that people who will be join this event, will defenetly like it because it is not as other nation's food.
From my perspective, this dish ought to be added, as it gives quite different test from other dishes. Most of countries eat low calories and less fat included dishes. Thus , if they try it for once, they will get something new from their daily routine meat and rearly found intheir surroundings. Overall, it will give them chance to explore variety of dishes from other origins.
I hope you will look into it and identify about the dish that i recommend to you. I waiting for postive response from you.
Your faithfully,
Ritika Sajedah.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt, meaning you offer to make a popular dish, describe it, and explain why it should be included. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the description of 'pani puri' mentions its balanced flavour of Indian spices and sweet water mixer, but remains slightly limited and under-developed. Similarly, while you explain why it fits the event by contrasting it with low-calorie daily routine food, the explanation could be extended further. The tone and purpose of the letter are appropriate for a club context, fulfilling the communicative requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure. There is a logical grouping of ideas, with paragraphs dedicated to introducing the suggestion, describing the dish, and explaining its inclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, referencing and transitional phrases like 'Thus , if they try it for once' and repetitive sentence openings create a slightly disjointed flow. Additionally, some paragraph boundaries and organisational links between sentences lack smooth progression, keeping the overall cohesion at this level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points effectively. You make some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'signature dish' and 'well balanced flavour', but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'countrey', 'widey', 'prefered', 'test' instead of taste, 'balnced', 'spiceies', 'defenetly', 'rearly', and 'posive'. Fortunately, these lexical and spelling errors do not seriously impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms in your letter. There are attempts at complex structures, such as 'I am sure that people who will be join this event, will defenetly like it'. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation, including awkward phrasing like 'The letter has been written to you about suggestion signature dish', incorrect verb forms ('who will be join'), and missing articles or prepositions. While these errors are noticeable and require some effort to parse, they rarely completely impede communication.
