Dear Luis,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Luis,
I hope you are doing great. I am writing this letter to give you a suggestion to add a popular dish from my country in an upcoming food event.
I want to offer you a popular dish from my country, Pakistan. As the event is about to celebrate popular food from around the world since no body proposed any dish from Pakistan. I belong to Pakistan, and I believe that my country's cuisine should be included.
The name of the dish is Butter chicken. It is very famous in the urban and rural kitchens of Pakistan. The main ingredients are chicken and butter along with little spices. It is usually eat with bread and special rogni naan. Moreover, this dish is already very famous in some European cities like London and Paris.
This dish has its own unique and smooth taste. In addition, this should be included in a list because it represents a large part of people from Asian Continent. Also, its creamy taste would be largely regarded, as its curry resembles the taste of baked cheese.
I hope you will consider my recommendation.
Yours faithfully,
Zubair.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you offer to contribute a Pakistani dish, describe its ingredients and how it is served, and explain its cultural and culinary value. The recommendation is clear, and the detail about serving it with bread and rogni naan helps the organiser picture the dish. You also give reasons for including it, such as representing Asian communities and its popularity in European cities. Some support is less fully developed: the claim that it represents “a large part of people from Asian Continent” is broad, and the comparison with baked cheese is not explained clearly. To strengthen the letter further, make the dish’s significance more specific and clarify how you could help prepare or serve it at the event.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening purpose, an offer and background, a description of the dish, reasons for inclusion, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps separate these functions, and linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “In addition” make relationships between ideas visible. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “As the event is about to celebrate…” does not connect smoothly to the claim that nobody proposed a Pakistani dish, and “Also” repeats the additive function of “In addition.” The final paragraph could link its reasons more logically rather than presenting them as separate claims. Use clearer sentence connections and pronouns with unmistakable references to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including “popular dish,” “main ingredients,” “creamy taste,” and “represents.” The food-specific terms “rogni naan” and “cuisine” add useful detail. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural, which limits flexibility: “give you a suggestion to add” is less direct than language for offering a contribution, while “largely regarded” does not clearly express that people would enjoy or appreciate the dish. “Urban and rural kitchens” is also an unusual way to describe its popularity, and “Asian Continent” is an awkward phrase. Aim for more natural collocations and precise wording, especially when explaining the dish’s appeal and cultural importance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and most of the message remains easy to understand. For example, “Moreover, this dish is already very famous in some European cities like London and Paris” is a clear complete sentence. Some grammatical errors remain. In “It is usually eat with bread,” the passive form should be “is usually eaten”; “no body proposed” should be written as “nobody has proposed” in this context. The sentence beginning “As the event is about to celebrate…” is also incomplete or poorly joined to the following clause. Check verb forms, sentence boundaries, and clause connections, while continuing to use varied structures.
