Dear Luis,
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Luis,
I hope this letter finds you pink at health!
It's fasinating to hear that our club is going to held an event to celebrate the famous cusines across the globe. I consider myself as a foody person and always willing to try variety of dishes. Also, I would like to suggest a traditional cuisine which is Ras Malai and it is famous among all around the Asia. It's a sweet creamy dish and made with milk and rice mainly, has some ingredients such as saffron and milk creme. A very unique flavour and colour comes when we add pistachio and saffron in it. Afterthat, two round shaped rice balls named 'Gulam Jamuns' get added into and it gets a thicker pudding with two dipped rice balls. The reason of my reccommendation is because its a cultural dish and hold traditional method of peperation which enables other communities to learn about diverse food among all around countries.
Kind regards
robin

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requirements: you offer to contribute Ras Malai, describe its ingredients and appearance, and explain its cultural value. The description of the creamy dish, saffron and pistachio gives the organiser useful information, while the point about helping other communities learn about food traditions explains its relevance. This is a strong, relevant response, but some ideas are less fully developed than others: the offer is presented as a suggestion rather than a clear commitment to prepare or bring the dish, and the reason for including it remains quite general. Clarifying your practical offer and giving a specific example of what makes the dish distinctive would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a broadly sensible order, moving from the event, to the dish, and then to its value, and the greeting and closing establish the letter format. However, the response is written as one long paragraph, so the main stages are not visually separated. Some links also feel mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated use of “and” and the transition “Afterthat,” which makes the preparation description difficult to follow. The final sentence combines the recommendation and its cultural benefit without a clear break. Use separate paragraphs for your offer, description, and reason, and connect details with clearer sequencing such as “First” and “Finally” to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “traditional,” “creamy,” “saffron,” “pistachio,” and “diverse,” and these choices help convey the dish’s character. There are also attempts at more specific food-related language, such as “thicker pudding.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “fasinating,” “cusines,” “foody,” and “reccommendation.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “famous among all around the Asia” and “pink at health,” which may distract the reader. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, “popular across Asia” and “in good health” would express your meaning more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. However, several sentence structures are faulty, especially where clauses are joined without a complete grammatical structure. For example, “It's fasinating to hear that our club is going to held” needs a passive or infinitive form, and “A very unique flavour and colour comes” has a subject–verb agreement problem and is a fragment in this context. The description beginning “Afterthat” also contains a long, loosely connected sequence that makes the process hard to follow. Practise accurate verb patterns, agreement, and complete sentences, and divide long descriptions into shorter sentences. This will make your varied structures more controlled and easier to read.
