Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you offer to prepare a dish, identify it as rice pudding or “Kheer,” and give a reason for including it. The explanation that guests can try food from another culture is relevant, and mentioning Diwali adds useful context. However, the description of the dish is quite limited: saying it is “simple and easy to make” does not explain its ingredients, taste, or how it is served. The reason for its inclusion is also general and could be developed by explaining what makes Kheer distinctive or especially suitable for the event. The closing thanks Luis for permission, although you have not yet asked for it. Make the request clearer and develop the dish and its appeal more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs for the dish and its inclusion, and a closing. This makes the main points reasonably easy to locate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: “This dish” begins several consecutive sentences, and the final paragraph shifts from explaining the event’s value to thanking Luis without a clear link. Some connections are also awkward, such as “because other people who are from another culture they also taste this,” which makes the relationship between the ideas harder to follow. Use clearer linking and referencing, and organise each paragraph around one purpose: offer and describe the dish, then explain its value to the event.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the basic topic, with relevant terms such as “popular dish,” “Diwali,” “different kinds of food,” and “culture.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or repetitive, which makes parts of the letter less natural. For example, “famous food” is repeated, while “fond off” and “gamous” are incorrect forms that may distract the reader. “Popular foods event” is also less natural than a phrase such as “international food event.” Build a wider set of precise words for describing a dish—its ingredients, flavour, and preparation—and check spelling and collocations. This would make your explanation more vivid and polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use mostly simple sentences and attempt some longer structures, including “This dish is make not only during event but also special occassion like Diwali.” However, several grammatical errors make these sentences difficult to read smoothly. For example, the passive form should be “is made,” and the sentence needs articles and plural forms: “during events” and “special occasions.” In “people who are from another culture they also taste this,” the subject is repeated, and the verb form does not express the intended possibility naturally. The closing sentence, “I appreciated to Luis who give me permission,” also has problems with tense and clause structure. Practise accurate verb forms, articles, and sentence patterns while retaining some variety.
