Dear Luis,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Luis,
In the previos meeting, you informed all of us that you are planning to organise a world food event. The primary aim of this event is to showcase the famous dishes from different countries. Personally, I like this idea as it will create awareness among masses about the food taste of various countries of the world. At the end of meeting, you made an announcment that you would include the suggested food from your respective member's choice in your world food pallet.
I would like to have dish pudding to be displayed from my country's side. As I am from India which is a intensely diverse country where great number of cultures and languages prevail. Conclusively, rice pudding is a sweet dish which is well-known in each state of my country.
Significantly, this dish is offered as a dessert. The ingredients in this dish are milk and rice.
Both of them are readily available as usually indian people keeps buffalos and cows at home and do the cultivation of rice in the month of June. Therefore, it describes a pure joy to present something solely originated in own counrty. Accordingly, it will give a sense of pride and contentment.
I am expecting that you would like my recommendation.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Jasleen Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you offer rice pudding, identify it as a sweet dessert made with milk and rice, and explain that it represents Indian food and could give you pride. The purpose is clear and the letter is appropriately directed to Luis. However, the description and reasons are not equally developed. For example, you could explain how the pudding is prepared or served, and give a more specific reason why visitors would enjoy it or why it represents India. The claim that it is “well-known in each state” is relevant but broad, while the point about ingredients being available locally does not fully explain its value at the event. Develop these ideas with concrete details to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from the event context to your offer, a brief description, and a closing. Paragraphing helps separate these stages, and expressions such as “Therefore” and “Accordingly” show attempts to connect ideas. At times, however, the progression is less clear because several points are packed together, and some links feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely. For instance, the move from rice and milk to Indian households and rice cultivation is not fully explained, and “Accordingly” does not clearly connect the dish’s origin to the stated sense of pride. Use clearer links and organise the description and justification into distinct, logically connected points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for the letter, including “showcase,” “diverse,” “ingredients,” and “contentment,” and the reader can understand your main message. There are also several inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision, such as “world food pallet” for the event’s food selection and “dish pudding” when you mean rice pudding. Spelling errors such as “previos,” “announcment,” and “counrty” are noticeable, while phrases like “describes a pure joy” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Aim for accurate, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary sound more fluent without needing unnecessarily formal wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which is well-known in each state” and a reason introduced by “as.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “As I am from India which is…” is an incomplete sentence, and “Indian people keeps” has a subject–verb agreement error. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “I would like to have dish pudding to be displayed” and “it will give a sense of pride.” Work on forming complete sentences, matching verbs to their subjects, and using articles consistently. More controlled complex sentences would help you express the relationships between ideas clearly.
