Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You begin to address the task by offering an Indian dish and saying it is popular and delicious. However, the response is incomplete: it does not clearly offer to prepare the dish, explain what it contains or how it is made, or give a developed reason for including it. The final phrase, “in this dish”, is unfinished, so the description stops before conveying useful information to Luis. The response also contains only 61 words, below the required 150, leaving all three bullet points substantially underdeveloped. To improve, complete the letter and explain the dish’s ingredients, preparation, and cultural or practical value for the event, with a clear offer to make it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic sequence: you greet Luis, introduce the purpose, identify India, and name a dish. This gives the reader a starting point, but the letter does not progress to a complete description or explanation, and it ends abruptly with “in this dish”. The ideas are not separated into clear paragraphs, and the links between them are limited; for example, “so” introduces the dish, but the relationship between its popularity and its suitability for the event is not explained. Use a short opening, a paragraph describing the dish, and a closing paragraph explaining its value and confirming your offer. Complete sentences and clear transitions would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant words, including “popular”, “dish”, “country”, and “delicious”, so the general topic is understandable. However, the vocabulary is repetitive and does not yet describe the food in enough detail for this letter. Some choices are unclear or inaccurate, such as “allu and gobi vegetable”; the dish name and its ingredients need to be expressed clearly. Spelling and capitalization also affect presentation, including “beacuse” and “india”. Build a more precise food-related vocabulary and check the spelling of names and common words. For example, you could identify the dish as “aloo gobi” and describe it as a “spiced potato and cauliflower curry” rather than relying only on “delicious.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts simple sentence forms, such as “I am from India” and “all people like it,” but control is uneven and the range is very limited. In “I hope are you feeling well,” the word order is incorrect; write “I hope you are feeling well.” The opening also needs a complete construction, such as “I am writing to suggest a dish for your event.” Capital letters are missing at the start of sentences and for “I” and “India”, while the final “in this dish” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add a few connected sentences explaining ingredients and preparation.
