Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Luis,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to share some suggestions regarding to make a popular dish from my country in an event.
In my country, Chole bhature is favourite dish in India. Most of the people in my nation always eat chole bhature every weekend with family and friends. Ingriedients that are included in chole bhature is chickpeas with gravy in which we put some masalas for flavour. In addition, we provide 2 bread and curd with chole bhature which enhance the taste. Main ingriedient in chole bhature is masala without that it will be tasteless.
It should be included in the event becuase chickpeas which we call chole is very nutrious for human health. Nowadays, indviduals are very concerned with their health. As a result, this dish will be good for people. Moreover, I researched that Chole bhature all over the world is famous and people like to eat it.
Thank you for time and understanding
Kind regards,
Raman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you offer to make chole bhature, describe its chickpea gravy and accompanying bread and curd, and explain its nutritional value and popularity. The dish is clearly relevant to an international food event, and the opening and closing suit a friendly letter to Luis. The explanation of why it deserves a place is less fully developed: the health claim is broad, and the statement that it is famous worldwide is not supported with a specific reason or example. Also, the offer could be more direct—for example, say explicitly that you would be happy to prepare and bring it. These details give the response a clear purpose, while fuller support and a more explicit offer would strengthen it further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a sensible overall order: you introduce your purpose, describe the dish, give reasons for including it, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish the description from the reasons, and connectors such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “As a result” show how ideas relate. Some links are mechanical or unclear, however. “As a result” does not clearly follow from the claim that people are concerned about health, and “Moreover” introduces a popularity claim without explaining its connection to the previous point. The description also moves quickly from ingredients to accompaniments and then to masala. Grouping related details and using more precise links between each reason would make the progression smoother and more cohesive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to explain the dish, including “chickpeas,” “gravy,” “masalas,” and “curd,” and the reader can understand the main message. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce naturalness. For example, “share some suggestions regarding to make” is awkward, while “favourite dish in India” needs a more natural expression such as “a favourite dish in India.” There are also misspellings such as “Ingriedients,” “becuase,” “nutrious,” and “indviduals.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; this would make your description more precise without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including a relative clause in “chickpeas which we call chole,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For instance, “Chole bhature is favourite dish” needs an article, and “Ingredients … is chickpeas” has a plural subject with a singular verb and an awkward complement. The phrase “regarding to make” also shows an incorrect grammatical pattern. Try building a few accurate complex sentences, such as explaining how the chickpeas are cooked and why the dish is suitable for the event, while checking subject–verb agreement and articles. Greater control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
