Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You address the main topic by offering chicken biryani and briefly identifying it as a chicken-and-rice dish. However, the response only minimally fulfils the three requested points: the offer is present, but the description is very brief, and the reason for including it is limited to saying it is popular and “a good dish to eat.” The letter also falls 85 words short of the required minimum, leaving little room to explain the dish’s ingredients, preparation, cultural significance, or appeal to guests. Develop each bullet point with relevant details—for example, describe its spices and explain how it represents your country’s food culture—to make the purpose of the letter clear and complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The ideas are related to the task and appear in a broadly sensible order: you offer a dish, describe it, and give a reason for including it. The opening “So” and repeated use of “It is” and “This is” create some links, but the progression is basic and the connections between points are not always clear. For instance, “So, I thing we should include it” repeats the earlier claim that the dish is popular rather than developing the reason. Use separate paragraphs for your offer, description, and justification, and connect them with more precise transitions such as “It is made with…” and “Including it would…”.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words, including “chicken,” “rice,” “popular,” and “delicious,” so the reader can identify the dish and your general opinion. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, particularly in “It is really popular” and “It is really a good dish to eat.” Several spelling errors—“popoular,” “enlcude,” “reallay,” and “alot”—also make the writing less clear and polished. Build a more varied range for describing food and its cultural value, such as “spiced,” “traditional,” or “a well-known national dish,” and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help explain why biryani is distinctive and appealing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response relies almost entirely on short, simple sentence patterns, such as “It is really popular in our country” and “This is a dish of chicken and rice.” This keeps the basic message understandable, but there is little variety in sentence structure. Errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation occur in “event. It,” “alot. This,” and “rice . it,” while “I thing we should” contains an incorrect verb form. Capitalisation is also inconsistent after full stops. Practise joining related ideas accurately—for example, “Biryani is a popular dish made with chicken, rice and spices, and I would be happy to prepare it for the event.”
