Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Luis,
I hope you'r doing well! I am writing this letter to offer a famous food dish of my nation for an event to celebrate a popular food from around the world.
The dish is musterd leave curry with corn flour chapati. it is a traditional dish of my country and people mostly enjoy it in winter season and on special occassions.
why I want to offer it as a popular dish is healthy and traditional.
musterd leave curry is very rich in iron and calcium and this cuury contains spinch, rddish leaves, garlic, ginger all of these are healty ingrediants. Corn flour chapatis are light to eat and digestable .Additionally, this is traditional dish of my country as a event planning to celebrate a famous food around the world so I want to represent my nation's tradition.
i hope you are considering my offer and I am looking forward for your positive response.
Kind regards,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you offer to prepare a dish, identify it as mustard-leaf curry with corn-flour chapati, and explain its nutritional and cultural value. The details about iron, calcium, and the ingredients help describe the dish, while the wish to represent your nation gives a relevant reason for including it. The purpose and your position remain clear throughout, and the friendly opening and closing suit a letter to an organiser. To make the response more fully developed, explain briefly what the dish tastes like or how it is prepared, and connect its health benefits more explicitly to why it would appeal to event visitors. The reasons are relevant but somewhat general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from the offer to a description, reasons for inclusion, and a closing request. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through your ideas. The ingredient list also supports the description. However, the paragraph beginning “why I want to offer it” combines the health explanation with the cultural reason, and the transition between these points is abrupt. The phrase “Additionally” helps signal a new point, but the sentence that follows is difficult to track because several ideas are joined together. Use separate paragraphs for the dish’s qualities and its cultural importance, and link them with clear transitions such as “Another reason” or “In addition to its nutritional value.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “traditional,” “iron and calcium,” “ingredients,” and “represent my nation’s tradition.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the food names make the offer specific. However, spelling errors such as “musterd,” “spinch,” “healty,” and “ingred iants” (written as “ingred iants” in effect) are noticeable, while “popular food dish” and “positive response” are less natural choices in context. Some wording is repeated, particularly “traditional dish” and “popular dish,” which limits flexibility. Check the spelling of food-related terms and choose more precise collocations, for example, “a traditional dish from my country” and “I look forward to hearing from you.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. For example, the sentence listing the curry’s ingredients conveys useful information, while the final sentence makes your request clear. However, several sentences are incomplete or have faulty structure: “why I want to offer it as a popular dish is healthy and traditional” lacks a clear grammatical subject, and “it is a traditional dish of my country as a event planning to celebrate…” does not form a clear clause. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings and the full stop after “chapati.” Aim to build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and separate connected ideas with full stops.
