Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you offer to prepare butter chicken with naan, identify it as an Indian dish, and explain that it is popular both in India and internationally. This makes the letter relevant and gives Luis a clear proposal. However, the description of the dish is very limited: “It has a different cooking style” does not explain its ingredients, flavour, or how it is prepared. The reason for including it is also somewhat unclear, particularly the claim that it would make the event memorable. Develop these points with specific details, such as the dish’s creamy, spiced sauce and its value as a well-known example of Indian cuisine. A more explicit offer to prepare or bring it would also strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The ideas follow a generally understandable order: you introduce the event, suggest an Indian dish, and give reasons for including it. The use of “Therefore,” “because,” and “That’s why” shows an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one dense paragraph, and several links feel mechanical or unclear. For example, the connection between hosting the event in India and the dish being “fruitful” is difficult to follow. The final sentence, “We should be included this food in our menu,” does not clearly connect the proposal to your offer. Use separate paragraphs for the offer and dish description, then the reason, and make each transition express a clear relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “popular,” “cuisine,” “culture,” and “widespread,” and the reader can identify the dish you are proposing. There are also attempts to use more descriptive language, such as “fascinating” and “memorable.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “fascinating dish,” “fruitful for to make this time memorable,” and “different cooking style.” These choices make parts of the message less clear and limit the precision of your description. Choose familiar, natural expressions where needed, such as “a well-known dish,” “make the event memorable,” and “a distinctive flavour.” Check spelling and word forms, including “That’s” and “Indian.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If we select delicious dish from India then it would be…” and a reason clause beginning with “because.” This shows some range, but errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make several sentences difficult to read. For example, “i am very glad to became” should be “I am very glad to have become,” while “We should be included this food” needs an active form such as “We should include this dish.” Capitalise “I” and begin sentences with capital letters, and use full stops to separate the long opening sequence. Practising accurate sentence patterns will make your ideas easier to follow.
