Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you offer to prepare a Punjabi dish, identify it as “makki di roti with sarsaun da saag,” and explain that it would represent your culture. The reason for including it is relevant, but it is repeated more than developed: “people give love to my culture” and wanting others to know about it express similar ideas. The description also gives little detail about what the dish consists of or how it is prepared, so the organiser may not understand what guests would be tasting. Add a brief explanation of its ingredients or flavour and a more specific reason it would interest visitors. The response remains focused on the event and uses an appropriate letter format.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce your offer, describe the dish, explain why it belongs at the event, and close politely. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by repeated points, particularly the references to showing your culture and making it known to others. Some links between ideas are also unclear, as in “Most of indian people love to eat that and whenever people are come in punjab they love to eat this food.” Use clearer transitions and avoid repeating the same justification. More precise referencing—for example, naming the dish rather than repeatedly using “this food” or “that food”—would make the connections easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “popular food,” “culture,” and the name of the Punjabi dish, so the main message is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “steple food” for a staple dish, “famous food around the all countries,” and “give love to my culture.” Spelling errors such as “beacuse,” “realted,” and “greatful” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural expressions, such as “traditional Punjabi dish,” “visitors to Punjab,” and “share my culture with other students.” A few precise words describing the ingredients, taste, or preparation would also make the description more informative.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the main ideas using a mixture of short statements and some longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “whenever people are…” However, several grammatical errors remain. For example, “I am delighted to know about that the club is organising” has an unnecessary construction, and “Most of indian people love to eat that” needs more accurate article and noun phrasing. In “whenever people are come in punjab,” the verb form and preposition are incorrect; write “when people come to Punjab.” There are also errors in possessives and sentence construction, as in “others country's people.” Practise accurate articles, verb forms, and sentence patterns while retaining some complex sentences.
