Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The letter is only minimally responsive to the task because it reverses the central request: you ask Luis to make biryani for you, rather than offering to prepare a dish yourself. You do identify biryani and describe it as rice with chicken, and you give a reason for including it by saying it is traditional and likely to be enjoyed. However, these points are brief, and the dish’s features and cultural significance are not clearly developed. The request for salad and enough food for 100 people further shifts attention away from the required offer. To make the response fully relevant, offer to cook the dish, explain its ingredients and preparation, and show specifically what it would add to the celebration.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The ideas are connected in a generally understandable order: you introduce the event, mention biryani, give a reason for serving it, and close with a practical note. However, the letter is presented as one long paragraph, so the main points are difficult to distinguish. Several linking expressions, including “Furthermore” and “Additionally,” introduce details that do not build a clear progression, while the repeated requests to Luis make the purpose less coherent. The opening and closing also need clearer separation and conventional formatting. Organise the letter into short paragraphs—for example, an offer and dish description, followed by its value to the event—and use transitions that show how each point supports your offer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the topic, including “popular dish,” “tradition,” “combination,” and “presentation.” There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “I would like to acknowledge,” but this phrase does not fit the intended meaning, and “with full of taste” is an unnatural collocation. Spelling and word-form errors such as “Futhermore,” “Addtionally,” “aknowledge,” and “quatity” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the message. Some informal forms, including “u,” are unsuitable for a letter to an organiser. Build a more precise range for describing food and cultural value, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some longer sentences and attempts to connect ideas with clauses, as in “I believe everyone in our club will like it and this is only the dish which is in tradition of our country.” However, these longer structures are often difficult to control, and sentence boundaries and punctuation are inconsistent. Examples include “I hope you are doing well.i am writing” and “I look forward your response,” where capitalisation and grammatical patterns need correction. There are also errors in articles and sentence construction, such as “will be a most perfect combination.” Use a wider range of shorter, accurately formed sentences alongside carefully checked complex sentences; this will make your meaning clearer and improve control.
