Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you offer to prepare fish curry, describe its ingredients, and explain that it could appeal to different ages and has cultural significance in Italy. The purpose is clear and the ideas are relevant. The description of the dish is specific, but the reasons for including it are less fully developed: for example, explain what makes it distinctive or how it represents Italian food culture. The claim that it is popular in Italy could also be supported with a brief detail. The letter is appropriately directed to Luis and includes a suitable closing. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a little more explanation rather than relying mainly on general claims about its appeal.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: you introduce your suggestion, describe the dish, give reasons for including it, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking phrases such as “In addition” and “In other words” show an effort to connect ideas. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. “As you might have an idea” does not lead naturally into the claim about the dish, while “If we add such item” has an unclear reference. The final paragraph also ends quite abruptly. Use more direct transitions and make references explicit—for example, name “fish curry” rather than “such item”—to make the progression smoother and easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “local spices,” “memorable,” and “sentimental value,” and the reader can understand your main message. There is some attempt to use less common expressions, but several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “famous foods item,” “domestic fish curry,” and “regnozed.” “Freshly baked fish” may also not describe the preparation clearly if the fish is cooked as part of a curry. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully. Choosing precise terms such as “traditional dish,” “popular,” and “recognised” would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriate without changing your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including the structure “it is not only going to … but also it could be …” and a sentence beginning “If we add…”. These attempts show some range, and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors affect accuracy: “I would like to suggest you to add” needs a different verb pattern, and “it would the best choice” is missing a verb. There are also issues with articles and number in “one of the famous foods item,” and punctuation around the ingredient list and sentence openings needs attention. Practise common patterns such as “suggest that you add” and check each sentence for a complete verb and correct agreement.
