Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 187 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments are presented in a fragmented and incomplete manner. While you identify a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, the supporting points are under-developed and lack sufficient depth. The final paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, which prevents a full exploration of the topic. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and examples, ensuring that you reach the required length to fully address all parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition' to signal new points. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed due to the incomplete nature of the sentences and the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, with ideas often presented as a list rather than a cohesive argument. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a concluding paragraph further hinders the overall flow and logical progression of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'advantage', 'machine', and 'individuals'. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'driving sheet' instead of 'driving system' and 'concenters' instead of 'concentration'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to technology and transportation, and try to vary your word choice to avoid repeating the same terms throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'advantage reduces' and 'there is few advantage'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as 'these will be very useful for disabled individuals which cannot move any were'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there are several spelling errors, such as 'any were' instead of 'anywhere'. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for grammatical accuracy is essential.
