Student answer (Band 7.0)
In the future, Artificial Intelligence will take control over many industries and automate manual human work. one of which will be driving vehicles. This is going to be interesting to be able to live in a world where every vehicle will be driverless. It can be dangerous, it can be really helpful too: The chances and lives of a human being will depend on AI but also it is going to make lives easier as then it will take humans wherever they want without them driving by themselves.
One of the biggest advantages of driverless vehicles is going to be decreasing number of accidents. If the AI works and understands the structure of the road and signs very well then it can be really helpful for human beings as it would remove many major reasons of accidents like fatigue/feeling sleepy while driving, drunk, texting etc. These are some of the major reasons which will be taken care of if the AI is successfully implemented into driverless cars. This will be revolutionary and even maybe one of the biggest evolution of the mankind to make driverless vehicles. Other small advantages are going to be that the AI will take control of the vehicle and let the owner know whenever some kind of discrepancy is detected like low tire pressure or maybe some kind of a bolt missing or service required etc. All these small features are going to be real time saver for human beings and it will be easier for them to be efficient and think onto something more important. For example: Suppose, you are leaving for work in the morning and there is a notification in your phone stating that your car tire pressure is low so, beforehand I know that I have to leave a little early. Now, That I left early I have to revise about the presentation and try the speech one more time, at moments like these driverless cars are very much better option as the care is driving itself and I am revising my presentation drinking coffee.
One of the biggest disadvantages of driverless vehicles is going to be life dependency. Human beings will start being dependent on the AI, Their life will be dependent on an AI's driving which sounds dangerous. Even when the AI knows all the rules and regulations, what if the AI gets hacked and the hacker controls the car digitally and tries to make it look like an accident? This is one of the biggest concerns and with that another disadvantage is what if the AI gets hanged or corrupted somehow while driving and it all goes south? All these types of scenarios are much far important to be looked at once before even thinking about making the vehicles go driverless no matter how protected the car is, It is still a human being, a life that we are talking about. Other disadvantages are that it will take jobs/career of people that are poor and trying to earn some hard earned money. If driverless vehicles are introduced then in future all cabs and personal drivers will be laid off which will result in people getting poor and not earning money maybe resulting in starving too. For example: Suppose, I am leaving for my job in my driverless car and my car got hacked mid way and the hacker drove my car right into the tree or maybe kidnapped me and took me somewhere. These are one of the worst scenarios that I think about when I think that there will be driverless vehicles.
So, In conclusion the driverless vehicles sounds like a good and one of the best efficient ideas but is also dangerous. It can be very helpful to mankind but anything that can be controlled digitally has a flaw or a crack that hacker can exploit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as the mention of road safety and the potential for hacking. However, the development is slightly uneven; while the points are relevant, the writing style is somewhat informal and repetitive in its structure. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better synthesised the main points to provide a more robust final stance. Overall, the response is well-developed and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the topic. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the biggest advantages' and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, although the shift between first-person perspective ('I') and general statements occasionally disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages from the disadvantages, which aids readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'automated', 'discrepancy', and 'implemented'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'evolution of the mankind' (should be 'advancement') and 'gets hanged' (should be 'freezes' or 'crashes'). While communication is never impeded, the lack of more sophisticated or varied lexical items prevents a higher score. The student relies on simple phrasing in several places.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the mankind'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For example, the use of commas is often inconsistent, and there are run-on sentences. Some phrasing is awkward, such as 'at moments like these driverless cars are very much better option'. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the student demonstrates an ability to construct complex arguments, even if the execution is not always error-free.
