IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers.
Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
From the last few decades technology especially Artificial intelligence and automotive industries display milestone innovation. It has been often argue that in the near future vehicles such as cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. I believe that this innovation has more benefits than drawbacks, it is two forth in the upcoming paragraphs.
Out of all the reasons, the foremost one, I sell put forward is that it declined the numerous numbers of accident. In a survey it has been shows that significant amount of accident is performed by the human errors, so if the driverless vehicle implemented it reduce collision on large extent. Then after, it provides the driver to enjoy the trip and make some more memorable moment with their loved ones and utilize their driving time on certain other chores. Apart from that, handicapped is also able to travel by their own.
What is more, having a robotic vehicle saves cost spending on drivers. By this I meant that, to run a vehicle such as a truck, individuals need a driver and they need to pay them handsome salaries including food and other expense, which cost them fortune. For instance, in India about 25-30% of the profit owner spent on maintaining driver, so while introducing this innovation they utilize their money on buying another thing or another truck which help them to expand their business.
On the contrary, having a merit there are certain demerits. Predominately, government has to create the infrastructure like roads, tolls and signals. Owing to this factor they need to invest a lot and go through certain unprecedent problems. Another significant factor is, owners needs to spent money on updating the software on which their vehicles are running, which incline servicing cost.
In a nutshell, self-driven vehicles have certain merits likewise reduction rate of accident, save fortune spent on drivers and handicaps able to travel alone. However, it has certain disadvantages such as increase servicing cost and needs to develop new infrastructure. Nevertheless, this should be negligible, therefore advantages outweigh disadvantages.

The structure is logical, and the position is maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the topic. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Out of all the reasons,' 'What is more,' and 'On the contrary,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Then after' and 'By this I meant that.' Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the central topic of each paragraph is clear, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'milestone innovation' and 'unprecedent problems,' though some word choices are inaccurate or non-idiomatic, such as 'I sell put forward' (likely meant 'I shall') and 'cost them fortune' (should be 'a fortune').
