Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the upcoming years, all the vehicles like car, buses and trucks will be drive by robots or automatically. Only passengers will be seen in the vehicles and driver will not seen in future. I think driverless vehicles have more benefits than drawbacks. driverless vehicles can reduce road accidents and make travelling more easiar for elderly and disabled people.

Driverless car, buses and trucks can reduce road accidents in upcoming years is main positive point. As we know that computers do not get distracted, tired or angry which stops most human-error crashes. Secondly, driverless vehicles are way more cheaper because machines does not want salaries after a month. Machines just need maintenance. Driverless vehicles are easy for travelling. People can easily read, work or rest instead of watching the road.

one of the primary disadvantage is driverless vehicles were way more expensive because automatic machines need time to time maintenance. all the driverless vehicles parts are more expensive than other vehicles. Some people will face unemployment. Human's will replace by machines than everyone will be jobless. for example, in past years, individuals do there household work like sweap and mop by themself but in present they used automatic vacuum cleaner.

To conclusion, Driverless vehicals are more merits but we should not underestimate its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 214 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the position is clear, the arguments are somewhat superficial and lack the depth required for a higher band. For example, the point about unemployment is introduced but not fully explored or linked back to the overall argument effectively. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure the essay is fully developed and meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Secondly', 'one of the primary disadvantage'). There are also issues with referencing and logical flow; for instance, the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks is abrupt. The conclusion is very brief and does not effectively summarize the main points or restate the position in a sophisticated way. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows logically into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'time to time maintenance' instead of 'regular maintenance' and 'sweap and mop' instead of 'sweeping and mopping'. The repetition of basic terms like 'driverless vehicles' and 'machines' limits the lexical variety. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the English language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('machines does not want', 'Human's will replace'), incorrect verb forms ('will be drive', 'will not seen'), and missing articles. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, these are often marred by errors. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and sentence structure. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and verb tenses, and proofread your work to correct simple errors that could easily be avoided.
