Student answer (Band 6.5)
Cars, buses and trucks are one the most common mode of transportation. Driverless vehicles have automated system which can perceive an environment and make decisions without any need for human intervention. Some people argue that all vehicles in the future will be driverless and I strongly agree that advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages.
Overall, there are many advantages of a driverless vehicles, since it's machine operated so there zero chances of human error, less road violations due to elimination of human factor, more safe and private environment for passengers and no longer dependency for human drivers in case not able to drive due to any unforeseen circumstances.
Majority of road accidents happen due human error or negligence which not only put their life at risk but also others, with driverless vehicles this could be avoided entirely as machines does not make mistakes which usually humans do. Furthermore, driverless vehicles are very useful for transportation business as with automated vehicles companies can save fortune which could be used for other purposes like research and development etc.
Driverless vehicles are specially useful of physically challenged individuals as they will not need to rely on others in case they may need to travel. One of biggest advantages of driverless cars is that delayed caused due to traffic could also be avoided as it automatically choses the route which gets you to your destination in least possible time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by arguing that the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments provided. While you mention safety, economic benefits, and accessibility for the physically challenged, these points are somewhat brief. To improve, you should expand on your examples and provide a more balanced view by briefly acknowledging potential disadvantages before refuting them, as this would demonstrate a more comprehensive engagement with the task. The position is clear, but the lack of length prevents a more thorough development of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific benefit. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. There is a reliance on simple linking words like 'furthermore' and 'one of the biggest'. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that the progression between sentences is more fluid. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You use some relevant terms like 'human intervention', 'negligence', and 'physically challenged'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors, such as 'save fortune' (should be 'save a fortune') and 'delayed caused' (should be 'delays caused'). To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensure that your word choices are grammatically accurate in context. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic synonyms will also help.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the essay contains several grammatical errors that affect the flow. Common issues include missing articles ('one the most common'), subject-verb agreement ('machines does not make'), and prepositional errors ('useful of physically challenged'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, pluralization, and verb forms. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help raise your score.
