Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the future, it is expected that all the vehicles, including cars, buses and trucks will become fully driverless. Although this development may create some challenges, I believe that pros are greater than cons.
One major advantage of driverless car is that they could significantly improve road safety. Human error, such as over speeding, driving while using phone and driving under the influence of alcohol is responsible for many traffic accidents. Auto cars use advanced technology, including sensors and artificial intelligence to detect obstacles such as speed breakers and bumpy roads and follow traffic rules. As a result, number of road accidents could be greatly reduced.
Another benefit is increased convenience. People would be able to use their travel time more productively by reading and by listening to music. In addition, driverless car could improve mobility for older and disabled people who are unable to drive. This would allow them to travel independently without driving and comfortably.
On the other hand, one the major drawback of driverless cars is job loss. Millions of people for instance, taxi drivers, bus drivers, truck driver could lose their jobs if auto cars replace human drivers.
In conclusion, despite concerns about unemployment and technology related risks, i believe that the benefits of driverless cars outweigh the drawbacks. Improved road safety makes this technology a positive development for society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and a clear position is maintained throughout. However, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the points regarding road safety and convenience are relevant, the discussion on job losses is underdeveloped and lacks sufficient detail or examples to fully explore the implications. To reach a higher band, you must expand on your ideas with more thorough explanations and illustrative examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'As a result' are used to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by the brevity of the paragraphs. The transition between the conclusion and the body paragraphs is functional, but the overall structure feels slightly mechanical due to the limited development of the arguments. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph is fully fleshed out will help achieve a more cohesive and sophisticated essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'artificial intelligence', 'independently', and 'unemployment'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'over speeding' (should be 'speeding') and 'auto cars' (a less natural term than 'autonomous vehicles'). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the variety and precision required for higher bands. Incorporating more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would strengthen your lexical profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('number of road accidents' should be 'the number of road accidents') and subject-verb agreement issues ('one the major drawback' should be 'one of the major drawbacks'). Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization errors, such as the lowercase 'i' in the conclusion. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and article usage will be beneficial.
