Student answer (Band 6.5)
There have been many innovations are inventions and these innovations have changed our present a lot and will change the future too. A new invention in cars using motion detectors ,various sensors and with the help of artificial intelligence have made the driverless cars enabled.
Every new invention brings its own positive and negative aspects with itself. Firstly, if you talk about the advantages driverless cars would reduce the number of accidents that happens on road and will save many people lives. Driverless cars would make the transportation a lot easier as people who have to travel long distances for the transportation of goods and items could complete their journeys a lot much faster as they don't have to stop to take a nap or rest. People who cannot drive could easily reach their destinations as the don't need to learn how to drive. Moreover, traffic congestion and violations of traffic rules would be significantly reduced saving a lot of people's lives and their time.
However, as driverless cars brings a lot of positive aspects ,there are some negative aspects related to it. As a machine can get broken or they could be any wear and tear , driverless cars could put passenger's life at risk. With this innovation of driverless cars ,many people who are divers would lost their jobs and can get unemployed .Even though driverless cars would eliminate the need for people to learn how to dive but it would also cause lack of driving skill in the future generation.
To summarize what I have said so far, advantages do outweigh the disadvantages as new innovation always brings it's disadvantages but it a machine's intention is always to help human in their life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and a clear position is taken in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'lack of driving skill' is mentioned but not fully explored. The conclusion is also incomplete and lacks a final sentence, which impacts the overall task completion. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis for each point mentioned, ensuring that the argument is fully supported throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'However' are used to link sentences and ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where the connection between the machine's intention and the conclusion is abrupt. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring a more sophisticated use of linking words would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'innovations', 'artificial intelligence', and 'traffic congestion'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'driverless cars enabled' instead of 'enabled driverless cars' and 'divers would lost their jobs' instead of 'drivers would lose their jobs'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('innovations are inventions', 'machine can get broken', 'divers would lost') and punctuation errors. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb tenses and pluralization, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater precision.
