Student answer (Band 6.0)

The growing influence of future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless in modern society has sparked various debates. This issue is particularly significant because it affects both individuals and communities in multiple ways. In this essay, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of people travelling and their implications for society.

Body 1

One of the key benefits is that buses and trucks will be driverless on the road. Accidents caused by human error will be reduced. It promotes innovation, creativity, and access to a wide range of opportunities. This is also evident from the fact that people travelling inside these vehicles benefit because there are no human errors and less stress. It helps improve understanding, tolerance, and problem-solving methods in society. As shown in various studies, trucks with high budgets have many benefits. This has had a profound effect on strengthening social harmony and economic growth in many regions.

Body 2

However, despite the benefits, trucks and buses can lead to significant challenges. For example, differences in values and beliefs related to buses and trucks may sometimes lead to misunderstandings and conflicts. As shown in various studies, at night the speed of cars, trucks and buses is high, and road accidents are very common. Various studies have shown that communication barriers and integration issues among different groups may occur.

Conclusion

In my opinion, driverless cars, trucks and buses provide both significant advantages and notable disadvantages, and their impact depends on how effectively they are managed in society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The essay relies on vague generalizations, such as 'promotes innovation' or 'differences in values,' without explaining how these relate specifically to driverless technology. The position is somewhat unclear, as the conclusion merely states that the impact depends on management rather than taking a firm stance on whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. To improve, you should provide concrete examples, such as increased traffic efficiency or the potential for job losses in the transport sector, to better support your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is weak. Many sentences feel disconnected, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'As shown in various studies' is used twice in a short text). The transition between the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion is functional but lacks sophistication. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically flows from the previous one to build a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'benefits,' 'disadvantages,' and 'various studies.' There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. Furthermore, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'future all cars' in the opening sentence, which is grammatically and lexically confusing. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to autonomous vehicles, such as 'artificial intelligence,' 'traffic congestion,' or 'technological integration,' and focus on using more precise adjectives and verbs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity, such as the opening sentence: 'The growing influence of future all cars... has sparked various debates.' This sentence is structurally flawed. Other issues include awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence patterns. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of control over complex structures limits the score. To improve, focus on sentence variety and ensure that your subject-verb agreement and word order are accurate, especially when attempting more complex, multi-clause sentences.
