Student answer (Band 5.5)

In upcoming days, all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. Whereas, the only people who travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers. However, this essay will discuss the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and give my own opinion on this statement.

There are also have some pros, driverless cars can not tired, drunk and distracted somehow people might have more time to read their books and sort some office work, people have their own driver without paying so much salaries. Smart system also reduce traffic jams Overwhelmingly, these pros also have better advancement for the future.

There are a lot of drawbacks, if the future take a huge turn to make cars driverless, one of the biggest drawback of this transformation is that people will lose their jobs. However, driverless buses and trucks may have software bug and hacking risk could cause danger. For instance, it can cause accidents because this will control by technology and it may have error in their system. Additionally, buying and fixing smart technology is very expensive.

In my opinion, I believe that, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages because so many people in this world who rely these jobs by driving cabs and do city bus driver jobs. If technology do a massive difference people can not generate income.

In conclusion, there are some advantages that people make more time for their tasks and other side some drawbacks are also mention that driverless cars may increase the countries poverty. In this case, every individual take his own right whether they want technology in their lives rather then not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages and providing a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the points about 'software bugs' and 'hacking' are mentioned but not fully explored or supported with detailed reasoning. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and lacks a strong synthesis of the arguments presented. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments remain at a surface level, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more specific examples or logical consequences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'Whereas, the only people...' is grammatically incorrect and does not function as a logical connector. Similarly, 'Overwhelmingly, these pros also have better advancement' is confusing and does not effectively link the ideas. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and some sentences feel disjointed. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'make a massive difference' or 'sort some office work'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'paying so much salaries' (should be 'paying high salaries') and 'rely these jobs' (should be 'rely on these jobs'). While your meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the frequent errors in word formation and collocation restrict your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'There are also have some pros' (incorrect verb usage), 'this will control by technology' (passive voice error: 'will be controlled'), and 'every individual take his own right' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and the proper construction of passive voice, which is essential for this type of essay.
