Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles, fulfilling the prompt's requirements. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention points like time-saving and safety, they are presented as a list rather than fully extended arguments. The conclusion is also underdeveloped, as it fails to clearly state your final position on whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. To improve, ensure each main point is supported by a specific example or a deeper explanation of the 'why' and 'how', and provide a clear, decisive summary in the conclusion that directly answers the prompt's question.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic transition words like 'Primarily' and 'Secondly' to signal new points. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that links back to your overall argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good' or 'bad' (implied) and repeat words such as 'vehicles' and 'people' frequently. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'badly effect on the road accident' and 'illegal purposes.' To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to technology and transportation, and work on using synonyms to avoid repetition. Focus on learning the correct word forms, such as using 'maintenance' instead of 'maintainance' and 'disabled' instead of 'disable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the advantages... is'), missing articles (e.g., 'in the future'), and incorrect sentence structures (e.g., 'its the higher chance'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'the people who travelling inside.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common errors like 'its' vs 'it's' and ensuring consistent verb tenses will significantly improve your score.
