Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many regions of the world, using driverless vehicles in the future is giving popularity. Although some people might consider it negative, I believe it to be extremely beneficial. Not only because it saves time, fewer road accidents and also because helpful for disabled people.
There are multiple benefits associated with this development. Firstly, it can facilitates people with time saving. As people can do other works during travelling such as they can read, write and relax at the same time respectively. Take an example of North America, a department of transportation secretary revealed in a conference that if we introduce the driver free vehicles we can save time and also save money and travelling become more productive and convenient. Thus, it seems like a positive development in this regard.
Secondly, this development can reduce the road accidents. As driverless vehicles do not get tired, distracted and use mobile phones while travelling. For instance a leading Hollywood star Emma Watson, once attributed in a press conference that she would prefer driverless cars in the future due to frequent ratio of road accidents. Hence, indeed driverless vehicles would be worthwhile.
Finally, this facility would help the people with disabilities and elderly. As people who can not drive because of physical disabilities and also because of over-age can travel independently.
To sum up, I believe that vehicles without drivers can facilitates people in many ways and it would be a positive development. Not only because it can saves time, help elderly or physical challenges people but also because it can fewer the chances of road accidents as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages of driverless vehicles, such as time efficiency, safety, and accessibility for the disabled. However, the task asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and the response fails to discuss any disadvantages, making the argument one-sided. While the position is clear, the development is limited. The examples provided, such as the reference to Emma Watson, are somewhat anecdotal and lack the depth required for a higher band score. To improve, you should acknowledge potential drawbacks (e.g., job losses or technical failures) and provide a more balanced analysis to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a logical progression of ideas from time-saving to safety and accessibility. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'As' to start sentences. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are slightly abrupt. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is more precise to guide the reader through your arguments more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'is giving popularity' instead of 'is gaining popularity' and 'fewer the chances' instead of 'reduce the chances'. The word choice is often simplistic, and there is a lack of topic-specific collocations related to autonomous technology. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'it can facilitates' (subject-verb agreement error), 'driver free vehicles' (incorrect compound adjective), and 'physical challenges people' (incorrect adjective form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic grammatical rules, such as modal verb usage and pluralization.
