Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the upcoming years, all the vehicles will be driverless such as, cars, buses and trucks. In those particular vehicles only passengers will travel. I strongly believe that this statement have more benefits than drawbacks. This essay highlights the advantages and disadvantages with valid explanations and examples.

On the one hand, (IOT) Internet of Things will play a crucial role in future to execute this concept. There will be several benefits if this plan really works such as, if technology will enhance due to that the employment of technical individuals will increase. Moreover, the road accidents will be less, because the vehicles will have sensors all over the vehicles, that will stop the cars or trucks automatically and traffic jam issues will also reduce. In addition, all these vehicles will be driverless so, the individuals can utilize their travelling time to do their pending work. Also, this technology will be essential for the people who are blind.

On the other hand, the future of the drivers are in danger if this concept take place. They will be jobless due to the driverless cars or trucks and it will be a big loss to the households. Furthermore, there will be the possibilities of technical errors in the vehicles, due to this sometimes fear will haunt. For instance, in 2016, China recorded few accidents of vehicles of this technology and the reason was minor technical faults.

In conclusion, this technology will bring several benefits such as, time management, beneficial for blind people and many more. However, due to this the jobs of drivers will be at risk and the fear of technical errors will haunt. Although, advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The advantages and disadvantages are identified, and the writer provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'technical individuals' being employed is mentioned but not explained in detail. Similarly, the argument regarding the loss of jobs for drivers is valid but could be expanded with more specific socio-economic consequences. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully supported with more detailed reasoning or illustrative examples rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly disjointed. The flow of ideas is consistent, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to achieve a more natural progression of thought. Overall, the structure is effective and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'Internet of Things,' 'sensors,' and 'technical errors.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'the future of the drivers are in danger' or 'fear will haunt.' Expanding your range to include more precise collocations and academic vocabulary would significantly improve the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this statement have' instead of 'has') and article usage. There are also issues with punctuation, such as unnecessary commas after 'such as' and 'so.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence construction will help improve this score.
