Student answer (Band 5.5)

Technology has improved a lot in past few years and it is still improving by making new innovation and in future there is a high chance of driverless vehicles. There are various opinions among the people in terms of driverless vehicles and some think it can have more advantages and others think the opposite. From my perspective advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages due to many factors that will discuss in the next paragraph.

This paragraph will provide the fact and argument for the advantage outweighing disadvantages. Firstly, driverless vehicles such as cars help people to save time as they do not have to drive and they can use that time in some productive manner such as reading, taking a short nap or preparing for exams etc. For example, if person wants to go to distant place for either examination or meeting he might get exhausted by driving which lead to the poor performance in the work if there is facility of driverless car it helps them to get relaxed and get more time to prepare for the meeting or exam.

Furthermore, it can also be beneficial for the physical disabled person as they are not able to drive the vehicles but they need to travel at many places through themselves due to different reasons in that driverless car can be beneficial. Moreover, Buses and trucks also have numerous benefits if it is driverless because many accident that happens are due to negligence and poor sleep of the driver and if it became driverless than there are higher chances of not getting accidents as there will be ai sensor which helps to prevent the accident.

Conversely, those people who work as a driver end up losing their way of daily earning . Although there are numerous benefits of driverless vehicles but there can still be trust issues among the people because what happens if machine stops working and lose its control.

To conclude, driverless vehicles may have some disadvantages but it cannot outshine the advantages and need of AI vehicles as it provides numerous benefits for the people travelling inside these vehicles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both advantages and disadvantages, supporting your view that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the point about productivity is well-supported with an example, the section on disabled individuals and the counter-argument regarding job losses are relatively brief and could benefit from further elaboration or specific examples to reach a higher band. The introduction is functional but could be more sophisticated in its overview of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Conversely' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the discussion of accidents and the counter-argument is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'in that driverless car can be beneficial', which lacks a strong antecedent connection to the previous sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'AI sensor' and 'driverless vehicles'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic phrasing. There are also minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'physical disabled person' (should be 'physically disabled people') and 'losing their way of daily earning' (which is slightly unnatural). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding article usage ('the facility of driverless car'), pluralization ('many accident'), and subject-verb agreement ('if it became driverless than there are higher chances'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on sentence boundary control and basic grammatical accuracy will help improve your score.
