Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The second paragraph provides a historical overview of transportation that is largely irrelevant to the core question, which detracts from the focus. While you do mention job losses and safety concerns, these points are somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly contributes to answering the specific question asked, rather than providing general background information. Your position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended with specific examples or deeper analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Within Time' is non-standard, and the use of 'Although' at the start of sentences is sometimes followed by a clause that does not logically contrast with the previous one. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'This step saves time', where the antecedent is slightly ambiguous. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'innovation', 'sustainable', and 'prototypes'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'AI driving mobiles' instead of 'autonomous vehicles' and 'ended fatal' instead of 'ended in fatalities'. Some phrasing is also repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Human' and 'aspects'. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and avoid repeating basic vocabulary. Expanding your range of academic synonyms will also help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'AI plays... this field became', 'Steam Engine considered'), incorrect article usage (e.g., 'a one of the great invention'), and punctuation errors. The misuse of 'witch' instead of 'which' occurs throughout the text, which is a persistent error. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
