Student answer (Band 5.5)

AI driven vehicles are going to become increasingly common in future and passengers will be the only people inside these vehicles .I believe that the disadvantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the advantages because AI needs proper guidance to work efficiently.

One of the biggest disadvantages of this practice is that it may increase the unemployement in future , this is because there are numerous people who are dependent on driving whose main source of income is driving these public vehicles like cars, buses and trucks and if the number of AI driven mode of transports rose then it will cause a huge financial crisis for this community .Moreover, AI is not that much trustable as humans are so there will be higher chances that accidents may occur . For instance sometimes there are technical issues in these robots and because of that there are higher risks to human lives .

furthermore, driverless vehicles can provide more work efficiency than humans because we have to follow a certain group of procedures to hire someone for driving vehicles whether it is for bus or truck because it is a responsible work and require greater concentration and maturity , while if there were AI driven transports there is no need to check proper background because they are designed particularly for the driver purpose and there is no need to check their portfolio . As a result it will be easier to hire and start the work without any doubt .

In conclusion , Although this practice can increase the work efficiency, I believe its drawbacks outweigh its benefits because this will be the main cause of unemployement .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. However, the development of ideas is uneven. The argument regarding unemployment is relevant and well-supported. Conversely, the third paragraph, which discusses the efficiency of hiring, is somewhat confusingly phrased and contradicts the initial stance by suggesting that AI is easier to manage, which weakens the overall argument against driverless vehicles. While the position is clear, the supporting points could be more logically structured to ensure the reader fully understands why the disadvantages are considered more significant than the benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'Furthermore' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the logical flow within the third paragraph is hampered by the confusing argument about hiring procedures. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be strengthened to ensure a more cohesive argument throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'financial crisis' and 'work efficiency'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'AI is not that much trustable' and 'designed particularly for the driver purpose'. More precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary would help to elevate the score. Spelling is generally accurate, but the word choice lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation (e.g., spaces before commas) and article usage. Some sentences are slightly run-on, such as the first sentence of the second paragraph. While the meaning is generally clear and the errors do not significantly impede communication, the control over complex structures is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on sentence boundary punctuation and ensuring subject-verb agreement, as well as refining the use of articles and prepositions.
