Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the future,it is expected that cars, buses and trucks will operate without human drivers.
although, this development may cause some problems ,i believe that the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh their disadvantages.
one major advantage of driverless vehicles is that they could improve road safety.A large number of human errors such as speeding, tiredness and distracted driving.
automated vehicles,on the other hand, can follow traffic rules and react quickly to dangerous situations .
another benefit is convienience.passengers would be able to use their travelling time for working ,reading and relaxing instead of concentrating on road. for instance, elderly and disabled people who cannot drive could travel more independently.individuals can feel safe and no tension of telling to stop at particular place because of its innovative arrangement and services provided by the driverless vehicle, moreover, it is a good development in automotive system which is beneficial for youngsters and people who are disable and having certain type of inconvienece.old people also experiance the new generation type of vehicles and can find it to be relaxing and more convienient.
however, there are also some disadvantages to be consider, the most significant one is the loss of employment for professional drivers including taxi, buses and truck drivers.
in addition, driverless innovation may sometimes fail because of cyberattacks, which could lead to severe accidents.these issues could make people unsafe about completely relaying on automated vehicles.
In conclusion, although driverless vehicles may lead to unemployment and technological risks, i believe their benefits are greater, improved road safety, greater convenience and increased independence for passsengers make this technology a positive development overall.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages and clearly stating a position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The advantages are supported with examples, such as the benefits for elderly and disabled individuals, but the explanation of disadvantages is less detailed. The argument regarding road safety is clear, but the section on convenience becomes repetitive, particularly when discussing the needs of elderly and disabled people multiple times. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed point rather than restating similar ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'one major advantage', 'another benefit', 'however', and 'in conclusion' are used to signal transitions. However, there are issues with punctuation and sentence structure that occasionally disrupt the flow. For instance, the lack of spaces after commas and periods makes the text look cluttered and affects the readability. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the progression of ideas feel mechanical rather than fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas about technology and social impact. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'automated vehicles', 'cyberattacks', and 'innovative arrangement'. However, there are frequent spelling errors such as 'convienience', 'passsengers', 'experiance', and 'inconvienece'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. To improve, the student should focus on accuracy in spelling and aim for more precise collocations to convey ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts to use complex sentences, there are frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and basic grammar. For example, the sentence 'A large number of human errors such as speeding, tiredness and distracted driving' is incomplete as it lacks a main verb. There are also consistent issues with missing spaces after punctuation marks. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. More attention to proofreading and basic sentence construction is required.
