Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this developing world some people argue about the incoming technology, which will replace drivers of the vehicles into driver less transportation and only the passengers will be the one sitting in the back seats. In my opinion, I strongly believe that the disadvantages will outweigh the advantages which will be discussed in the following paragraphs.

To embark upon, there are many disadvantages of not having a driver for the vehicles, firstly, there are so many people who drive vehicles as their job and if there are driverless transports, many people will lose their respected jobs which will result in unemployment and poverty and also, they will not be able to fulfill their needs.

Secondly, in my opinion I think that humans are better drivers as they are more experienced which makes them have some good quality driving skills and if is it replaced by other things which is out of human hands it can be risky and harmful for human lives. For instance, few years back a new technology came up in which the driver of the car was replaced by an ai operating system and after few days the car crashed, and it almost took many peoples life away because the ai did not get the right direction and the car crashed.

On the contrary, there are also few advantages of having a driverless vehicle as it can save some money because people will not have to pay anyone for driving them. Secondly, if people are too tired and don't feel like driving they can just sit in the back and relax as the respective transport will automatically take them to their destination. For example, when the new driverless car was launched many people felt relieved because after a long day at work they did not have to drive as the car did it for them and they reached their destination without any driving.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding job loss and safety concerns are relevant, though the development is somewhat basic. The counter-argument regarding convenience is also presented, but the explanation lacks depth and specific evidence. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your ideas with more sophisticated reasoning or broader societal implications rather than relying on repetitive personal opinions. The conclusion is missing, which is a significant omission for a balanced essay structure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'on the contrary' to link your points. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical, and the flow could be improved by using more varied linking phrases. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from a concluding paragraph to summarize the main points and reinforce your position.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite simple and repetitive. Phrases like 'good quality driving skills' and 'take many peoples life away' are somewhat informal and imprecise. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'ai operating system' and 'driverless transportation', but the range is limited. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology to express your ideas with greater nuance and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the one sitting' (should be 'the ones sitting'), 'if is it replaced' (word order error), and 'peoples life' (missing apostrophe). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct sentence punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
