Student answer (Band 6.5)
In times to come, vehicles and trucks will be autonomous and only passengers would be found inside them, while the disadvantages of driverless car are technical issues and lack of trust from people, i .believe the advantages outweigh the drawbacks because it would enable individuals to enjoy efficient transportation system and reduced pollutions.
One the one hand, there are several benefit of driverless cars, one of which is efficient transportation system. This is because autonomous cars are fast-paced and could certainly take people to their various destinations. They are built with artificial intelligence which also helps humans to navigate their routes. This technological advancement would make employees who always commute to work by road to experience efficiency, due to the capability of these cars to avoid traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. For example, workers in the united states of America may enjoy the rapid movements of this vehicles, particularly when they have important meetings to attend. Consequently, This improves their productivity in the workplace, as they are able to arrive early on time. Furthermore, these vehicles reduce pollution in the environment. The reason is that they do not use fossil fuels and that means, there would less pollutions from buses and trucks. If individuals start utilizing these cars, there would be less greenhouse emissions. As a result, the environment would be safe for both humans and species.
On the other hand, autonomous vehicles are bound to have technical faults. This is due to the fact that they are man-made and sometimes they could have issues. There have been serious of concerns raised over the use of these devices, as they are automated and passengers rely solely on them, in order to arrive to their destinations. For instance, In Lagos, Nigeria, many individuals who purchased these cars may have abandoned them because of technical glitch that could arise. Hence, this causes inefficient use of money. Another significant drawback is lack of trust from individuals. Many people are skeptical of trying this modern device because they are not driven by humans. individuals fear that they may experience malfunctions and would lead to accidents. Therefore, they prefer to commute with non-autonomous cars, rather than travelling with driverless vehicles.
In conclusion, while driverless cars cause technical problems and lack of trust from people, i believe the benefits outweigh the disadvantages because of its efficient use and reduced carbon dioxide emissions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as increased efficiency and reduced pollution, and the counter-arguments regarding technical faults and lack of trust are also addressed. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and occasionally lacks depth. For instance, the argument about 'efficient transportation' is supported by general claims about traffic, but could benefit from more specific, nuanced examples. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with a distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'this vehicles' instead of 'these vehicles'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the link between the introduction and the body could be smoother. Overall, the paragraphing is sufficient and appropriate, justifying a Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use topic-specific terms like 'autonomous', 'artificial intelligence', 'traffic congestion', and 'greenhouse emissions'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'fast-paced' to describe cars (which usually refers to a lifestyle or environment) and 'serious of concerns' instead of 'a series of concerns'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. The errors do not impede communication, placing this in the Band 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('this vehicles', 'its efficient use' referring to plural cars), missing articles ('in times to come'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'i .believe'). The use of complex structures is present but often contains errors that, while not preventing understanding, are noticeable. To reach a higher band, the student needs to improve control over basic grammar and ensure consistency in pluralization and article usage.
