Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the future, public transportations will be driverless and the only the passengers are inside. I strongly believe that having a driverless cars can have advantages but it does not outweighs the disadvantages of it.
First of all, the having a driverless vehicles means people does not need to learn how to drive anymore. We can own a car and can go from one place to another without worrying about bus schedules and our time of commute. Especially during emergencies where people does not have the capacity to drive. Secondly, driverless public transportations like buses and trucks can operate all day since humans are not the ones operating it.
Even if there are advantages, I believe that there will be more disadvantages to it. Having a driverless buses and tracks will have a huge impact on employment, a lot of drivers will start to lose their job. Furthermore, since it will be run by computers, the safety of the passengers are not guaranteed as we all know that computer and artificial intelligence are not that reliable at times. Lastly, there will always be unexpected scenarios when commuting in a public transportation and drivers are trained to prevent those to guarantee the safety of their passengers, I strongly doubt that driverless cars have the capacity to do that.
Overall, driverless cars and public transportations can have an advantage and disadvantage to it. It can be helpful to everyone, especially during emergencies but the impact of it in the economy most especially on the employment needs to be studied and take accountable for.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and a clear position is maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about employment is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of economic consequences or potential solutions. The argument regarding safety is also quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis for each point. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher score, as they remain at a surface level of discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'Lastly'). Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'it' in the conclusion, which could refer to either the technology or the impact. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the flow and coherence of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', or 'huge impact'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'public transportations' (transport is an uncountable noun) and 'take accountable for' (should be 'held accountable'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to technology and automation, and focus on using collocations correctly. The range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('having a driverless cars', 'people does not need', 'safety of the passengers are'), and incorrect article usage ('the only the passengers'). While these errors do not generally impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization rules. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring accuracy will also help raise your score in this criterion.
