Student answer (Band 5.5)

All the domestic vehicles, namely cars, buses and trucks will be drive without a driver in the next generation. passengers will be the only people travelled inside these vehicles. This will be a huge jump of the technology used for automobile industry and it can be a advantage.

Nowadays, most of the accidents and traffic congestions are due to the inappropriate driving habits. When the accident is happen, it will cause to huge congestion in roads. As a solution for this problem, it is important to having skillful drivers. Not only that, slept when the driving is a also a drastic consequence. This is also because of the drivers carefulness. And also, people can be utilize the driving time to having a rest. All these things can be address by using fully automated vehicles.

When the vehicles get automate, it could accurately monitor roads and plan the path carefully for travel. Then it ensures the accident free and safe journey other than manual driving by a person. Hence, it is help to reduce the traffic jams and the vehicle crashed in the roads. On the other hand, passengers can peacefully sleep when the vehicle get the drop them by the place that they need. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages of driverless vehicles, such as increased safety and passenger comfort. However, the task asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and the essay fails to adequately address the 'disadvantages' side of the argument. While the position is clear, the development is somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on safety and convenience without exploring potential drawbacks like job losses, technical failures, or ethical dilemmas. To achieve a higher band, you must provide a more balanced discussion that explicitly weighs the pros against the cons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'In my view' and 'On the other hand', they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that feels mechanical. The transition between ideas is not always smooth, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, distinct focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'huge jump' and 'things', which are imprecise. There are also several instances of incorrect word forms or collocations, such as 'the vehicle crashed in the roads' instead of 'vehicle crashes on the roads' and 'get the drop them' which is grammatically and lexically confusing. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to technology and transportation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with verb forms, such as 'it is important to having' instead of 'it is important to have', and 'when the accident is happen' instead of 'when an accident happens'. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar—such as subject-verb agreement and tense usage—prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction before attempting more complex structures.
