Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that in the future transport facilities such as cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers. In my perspective, there are many disadvantages which outweigh the advantages. This essay discusses a clear view on both pros and cons.

Due to the usage of automatic cars there are fewer advantages which includes comfortable rides and are beginner friendly. Generally driverless vehicles are essential for people who travel long distance. This gives them enough time to spend with their co-passengers. For instance, a family covering long distance might want to rest which is not possible while driving. Hence, by using automatic vehicles it buys time for the driver to relax. These self driving vehicles are beginner friendly meaning helps people to drive easily.

In addition, driverless cars, buses and trucks have significant amount of disadvantages. These automatic vehicles are quite expensive and cannot be afforded by everyone. Replacing the damaged part of the vehicle well be quite expensive. For example, a person who met with an accident wants to repair the vehicle the cost of the spare part will skyrocket. This holds a great disadvantage in my perspective.

Furthermore, the driverless vehicle may sometimes cause mechanical error which leads to passengers' life at risk. The vehicle may not recognize the danger in front due to which the passenger mush pay with his life. Eventhough the vehicle is automatic it passengers will have to keep an eye on the road.

In conclusion, driverless cars, trucks and buses hold both pros and cons but the disadvantages are significantly high.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention advantages like comfort and disadvantages like cost and safety, the arguments lack depth. For instance, the point about 'beginner friendly' is unclear, as driverless cars do not require a human to 'drive' at all. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or logical reasoning. The conclusion is brief but effectively restates your position. Ensure that your arguments are fully explored rather than just listed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In addition,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise (e.g., 'Due to the usage of automatic cars there are fewer advantages which includes...'). To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns to create a smoother, more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mechanical error,' 'skyrocket,' and 'transport facilities.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'fewer advantages which includes' (should be 'fewer advantages, which include') and 'passenger mush pay' (a typo for 'must'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensure that your word forms are accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'Replacing the damaged part of the vehicle well be' (should be 'will be') and 'it passengers will have to' (should be 'the passengers will have to'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are slightly awkward in their construction. To achieve a higher score, focus on eliminating these small errors and increasing the variety of complex sentence structures, such as using more conditional or passive forms correctly.
