Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages of driverless vehicles. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, the task asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, which implies a need to acknowledge or briefly discuss the disadvantages before refuting them or explaining why the advantages are more significant. By focusing exclusively on the benefits, the response is slightly one-sided. To reach a higher band, ensure you address the 'disadvantages' aspect of the prompt more explicitly to provide a more balanced and comprehensive argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, such as safety or economic impact. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly repetitive in structure. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used to connect ideas more fluidly would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'technological advancement', 'infrastructure', and 'accessibility'. However, there are several instances of word-form errors and awkward collocations, such as 'peoples' (should be 'people'), 'car crashed' (should be 'car crashes'), and 'driving under influence' (should be 'driving under the influence'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning the correct plural forms and common collocations associated with the topic of technology and transport.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and verb forms, such as 'every vehicles... will be' (should be 'every vehicle... will be') and 'could brings' (should be 'could bring'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout. While these errors rarely impede the reader's understanding, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and tense consistency would significantly improve your accuracy.
