Student answer (Band 6.0)

Advances in Artificial Intelligence and automation are making it increasingly possible for vehicles to operate without human intervention. In the future, it is likely that car, buses and trucks will operate without human drivers and people will simple travel as passengers. Although this development create some problems, I believed that the advantages of driverless vehicle will outweigh their disadvantages.

First and the foremost, there are several important benefits of driverless vehicles. Primarily, they could significantly reduce road accidents caused by human mistakes. Drivers sometime become tried, distract or careless there are main chances to get road side accidents whereas automatic vehicles can follow traffic rules and react quickly to dangerous situations. For example, a driverless car could be automatically detected pedestrian or another vehicles in front of it. Secondly these vehicles make travelling more convenient, especially for elderly people and those who are unable to drive. Passenger could use their travel time to read, work or relax instead of concentrating on the road.

On the other hand, driverless vehicles may also have some disadvantages. The biggest concern is that many professional drivers could lose their jobs. In addition, automated systems may sometimes experience technical problems or software failures. If a computer system stop working while a vehicle is moving at high speed, it could result in a serious accident.

Having analysed both the paradoxical aspects, driverless vehicles could cause job losses and create technical issues and safety concerns. however I believed that their ability to reduce human errors improve the road safety and provide greater convenience makes their advantages greater than their disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles and clearly stating a position. The ideas are relevant, such as road safety and job displacement. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about technical failures is mentioned but not fully explored with a concrete example or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your supporting points with more detailed explanations or specific real-world implications, ensuring that the balance between advantages and disadvantages is more thoroughly examined.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'First and the foremost', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions between ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as in the final paragraph where 'both the paradoxical aspects' is a bit awkward. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows smoothly into the next will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'artificial intelligence', 'automation', and 'intervention'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'tried' instead of 'tired', 'distract' instead of 'distracted', and 'road side accidents' instead of 'road accidents'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that you use the correct word forms (e.g., adjectives vs. verbs) in your sentences.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('this development create', 'a computer system stop') and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. To progress, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically verb endings and singular/plural agreement.
