Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and a clear position is stated in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the argument regarding safety is repetitive and lacks specific examples or logical depth. The points about economic benefits for companies are mentioned but not fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your claims, rather than simply listing benefits or drawbacks. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is insufficient for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, 'To commence with' and 'on the other hand' are used, but the internal flow between sentences is frequently disjointed. There are also issues with paragraphing, as some sentences are broken up in a way that disrupts the logical progression of ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'craze', 'good', and 'safe', and there are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'appointing people' instead of 'hiring staff' or 'employing drivers'. Additionally, there are persistent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'convinient', 'ensur', and 'trainning'. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range and frequent spelling mistakes prevent a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'there is two side of the same coin', 'they is no one', and 'it should be go through'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While you attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, which affects the accuracy of the writing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and pluralisation.
