Student answer (Band 6.0)

Travel has always been regarded as one of the most important aspects of our modern society contributing to economic growth and technological advancement. It is predicted that cars, buses and trucks will be driverless and only passengers will be present inside these vehicles. However, different perspectives exist on this matter, I firmly believe that a balanced and sustainable approach is essential to maximize the benefits and minimize the negative consequences.

On the one hand, supporters of driverless vehicles argue that accidents ratio will be much reduced rather than current situation. We do not have to pay for drivers, so the cost of transportation of goods will be decreased and the prices of things will be declined in the future. There will be a structured driving pattern on the roads instead of humans which always cause accidents due to deliberatly high speed to reach their destinations earlier. Moreover, Some drivers are not paid well and they continue driving instead of enough sleep to harm the community.

On the other hand, advocates of necessaity of driver in each vehicle contend that a lot of budget will be required for this project. During the some natural calmity or disaster, robot will not be able to understand the situation. Consequently, incident can be occured. it will not be possible in the remote areas and underdeveloped countries.

Therefore, many experts suggested that there should be one expert driver in each vehicle to mange any situation in dire need of difficulty.

In conclusion, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of driverless transport in the future. In my opinion, the government and transport organizaions should work together to test the driverless transport in every angle to avoid any disturbane in the future and for well-being of society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of driverless vehicles. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention safety and cost as advantages, the points regarding the disadvantages—such as the cost of implementation and the inability of robots to handle natural disasters—are underdeveloped. The conclusion states that advantages outweigh the disadvantages, but the body paragraphs do not clearly weigh these against each other to justify this stance. To improve, ensure each main idea is supported by a specific example or a more detailed explanation of the logic involved.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Consequently.' However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the body paragraphs and the final conclusion feels abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this project' without a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'economic growth,' 'technological advancement,' and 'transportation of goods.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'accidents ratio' instead of 'accident rate' and 'natural calmity' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and you rely on basic phrasing in several places. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include 'humans which always cause accidents' (should be 'who'), 'incident can be occured' (passive voice error), and 'mange any situation' (spelling). There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement throughout the essay. To improve, focus on proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and passive voice construction, and aim to use a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
